On its last day, a strategy workshop for reviving the old markets of Aleppo examined many points related to the restoration work of the city’s markets according to a specialized academic curriculum.

Hussein Diab, Governor of Aleppo, stressed the importance of speeding up the rehabilitation of markets and destroyed buildings, placing them with investment, and rehabilitating the infrastructure to restore these markets to their glory.

Nayla Chahoud, director of tourism in Aleppo, stressed the importance of restoring the urban splendor, history and archaeology of the city of Aleppo, in preparation for the return of tourists to these ancient and authentic archaeological sites, stressing that the old markets of Aleppo are an important tourist attraction and work to be restored according to a comprehensive systematic academic strategic plan.

For her part, Zikra Hajjar, a member of the Executive Office in Aleppo Governorate for the Public Works, Housing, Culture, Antiquities and Tourism Sector, pointed out the importance of completing the restoration operations for the remaining parts of the Saif al-Dawla al-Hamdani building, which was destroyed by armed terrorist organizations during the years of war on Syria, pointing out that during the workshop, a discussion was held. The importance of restoring this building to restore it to its former splendor.

Engineer Rasha Masri, Head of the Buildings Division at the Directorate of Antiquities and Museums of Aleppo, explained that the last day of the workshop focused on restoring the straight street that extends from Bab Antakya to Souk al-Zarb as an initial stage, followed by the restoration of all markets in the old city.
