Should Allershausen purchase air purification devices for all classes?

Is that the guarantee that the schools will stay open then?

The local council still has many questions.

Allershausen

- The Bavarian Cabinet wants to strengthen corona protection in schools with air purifiers. The municipalities are to be reimbursed 50 percent of the acquisition costs. Markus Söder announced this at a press conference on Tuesday. The Allershausen municipal council met in the evening, and councilor Bianca Kellner-Zotz (CSU) had forwarded this information to Mayor Martin Vaas (PFW) by email, with the request to make the whole thing an issue immediately. And so the air filter systems were found under the item Inquiries on the agenda again. Vaas admitted right from the start that he was divided on the matter. Because the neighboring community of Kranzberg had examined some devices and came to the conclusion that at least the mobile systems were "no good". They are so loud that a trouble-free lesson is not possible. In addition, the devices would have failed in the "smoke test" and not extracted it. For the elementary school, for which the Allershausen community alone has the power to make decisions, the issue can be pursued with pleasure. “In middle school, the topic has to be dealt with by the school association.” Vaas affirmed: “If we install these expensive air filter systems, I would like the Prime Minister's promise that the schools will then remain open regardless of the incidence figures - otherwise investments worth millions would make no sense. “Bianca Kellner-Zotz emphasized that she could understand all the concerns. However, if the Prime Minister now says that air filter systems have to be installed and that this is not done, the schools will be closed. “We urgently need to prevent that”, so their appeal.

Manuel Mück (CSU) thought it was funny to pass this on to the municipalities. If 50 percent of the costs stick with the community, it is a huge investment. Leonhard Held (CSU) appealed to the committee to urgently stay on the ball here, to get in touch with project engineers in order to know what it would cost by the next meeting. “We have to manage to be prepared for the next wave. The children should not be the big losers of the pandemic. "

Josef Lerchl (SPD) supported Kellner-Zotz's request with regard to the delta variant of the corona virus.

Stefan Zandt (PFW), who was “absolutely in favor of these systems”, nevertheless warned against raising expectations in parents.

“There is a public procurement law and deadlines for such matters that have to be adhered to - we will not be able to do that at such short notice.” However, the unanimous opinion is that the subject should be pursued further.
