“It is better to arrive late than not to arrive.” A phrase embodied by Huda Obaid from the city of Shahba in Sweida, after her successful experience in the field of plastic art, which she started at the age of fifty, and crowned with works of art that reflected her inner innermost, soul, feelings and love for life, joy and optimism.
Huda or Umm Muhammad, as she is called, said during her interview with SANA reporter that her short artistic experience is the culmination of a hobby that she has had since her childhood and appeared after the appropriate conditions for her release, given her preoccupation during the past years with the responsibility of raising her children until they grew up and learned.
Hoda, 53, indicated that she registered with the encouragement of her husband years ago at the Fine Arts Center in the Cultural Center in the city of Shahba and graduated from it, in addition to following courses in fine art with specialized teachers, which gave her the basis for launching and completing many paintings and participating in seven group exhibitions in the cities of Shahba and As-Suwayda.
In her works, Huda focuses on her favorite oil colors with various themes related to nature, heritage, women, archeology and the Levantine environment, indicating that I love her work, a painting entitled “The Lady of Wheat”, which symbolizes goodness, giving and hope, as she felt that her spirit in this painting is close to her personality.
The ambition of Huda, who loves purple colors, does not stop at a certain age. She constantly seeks to develop herself, follow the experiences of great artists, and accomplish more works that qualify her to hold solo exhibitions during the coming period.
According to Huda Nabih al-Sabbagh’s husband, Harb, his wife’s beginning in the artistic field at this age gives impetus to her work, especially with the presence of experience she has in life, expressing his pride in her experience and encouraging her to reach advanced stages in art that carries a message of love and peace to the world.
The young plastic artist Bashar Saab believes that Hoda, willingly and insistently, exceeded the issue of age, and she was fully prepared to receive the information given during private lessons and tired herself until she reached a good stage by working within a short period and became involved in art exhibitions.
While the official of the Fine Arts Center at the Cultural Center in Shahba City, Ilham Jazan, stated that Huda entered the Arts Center with a great desire to learn the principles of drawing and was always persevering and benefiting from every new information presented to her and was creative because she had a motive to reach her goal and she is still working to develop herself in this field. .
