Langenbach is looking for space for baptismal or wedding trees - a dilemma with compensation areas

The idea that Langenbachers could plant trees on community property without their own garden at events such as weddings or baptisms has suffered a setback.

The idea that Langenbachers could plant trees on community property without their own garden at events such as weddings or baptisms has suffered a setback.

Langenbach

- Actually it was already decided that the municipality of Langenbach provided two areas for wedding trees and the like as part of the landscape conservation association project "Korbiniansapfel und Bunte Hummel - Mia bassn zam".

Among other things, because it is not only good for people without a garden, but also good for climate protection.

Actually, the Lower Nature Conservation Authority had already signaled approval in the district office.

After a change of personnel, the matter is now more complicated.

The problem with the compensation areas

The problem is that the municipality can no longer use said municipality-owned land as compensation area. Mayor Susanne Hoyer recently announced this to the local council. "Then these areas would be deducted from us," regretted the town hall chief. "A double function" is definitely not possible, said Hoyer when asked. According to Hoyer, the crux of the matter is that the plots on which wedding trees or baptismal trees are planted can no longer be used to the extent that compensation areas are required. Hoyer: “This is how I bind myself completely.” In addition, the Lower Nature Conservation Authority also raised a technical objection: According to this, it is not certain whether the trees will thrive well on the originally selected plots.

But the project has not yet been given up completely.

Neither from the point of view of the municipality nor from the point of view of the authority.

The latter made an alternative proposal and proposed an area of its own accord that meets the requirements without burdening the compensation area contingent.

This is a plot of land in Eichlbrunn, on which, according to managing director Bernhard Götz, “the first trees that are planned will easily have space”.

The demand is already there

The municipal council has unabashedly approved the use of the area in Eichlbrunn. According to Götz, inquiries have already been received. A woman wanted to book a place for a wedding tree via the community app. The administration is already looking for new, possible positions. In the local council, Hoyer named the football field or the kindergarten, for example. The possibility would also be given on church grounds. The Lower Nature Conservation Authority had explicitly pointed this out. Green Councilor Verena Juranowitsch also made it clear in the committee that there is enough demand. Juranowitsch said she received some inquiries on WhatsApp.

The landscape maintenance association is following the development with interest.

When asked about the efforts in the municipalities, managing director Matthias Maino said: “I am fully behind it.” Incidentally, the project is not new.

The first wedding tree was planted on the Freising Domberg around 15 years ago.

Only recently there was a corresponding appeal from the Archdiocese of Munich and Freising to plant wedding and baptismal trees.

Last winter, the association “Menschen in Not” carried out the FT fundraising campaign of the same name for the first time - and collected more than 150,000 euros in donations.
