The "killer whale" has run aground:
Klaus Gehrig has been working
on the expansion of Lidl and Schwarz
since 1976
- now it's over

Klaus Gehrig
(73) is stepping down as head of the Schwarz Group.
The company announced on Friday that the decision to give up his position as general partner of the company was made "spontaneously".
The reasoning is remarkable: Gehrig was unable to come to an agreement with the owner "on a matter that was very important to him."
This confirms what manager magazin recently reported: that the "killer whale", as Gehrig is called internally, had to fear for his job.
Owner
Dieter Schwarz
(81) has now given Gehrig leave "with the stipulation that further cooperation should be regulated in a further discussion".
The Patriarch thanks the long-time manager "for the great development work of the past few years".
According to the announcement, the relationship between Schwarz and Gehrig is "still unclouded".
Schwarz himself now wants to act as general partner until
Gerd Chrzanowski
(49), the designated successor and current CEO of Lidl, can take over the mandate.
