The Ministry of Health updated this morning (Friday) that 1,696 people were diagnosed in Corona last week - more than double last week and almost 15 times more than the figure two weeks ago.

This is the highest figure in the last two and a half months.

The total number of people infected in Israel since the outbreak was 842,218.

However, in the severe illness only a moderate increase or no change occurred.

The number of hospitalized patients has risen from four to 52 in total, the number of seriously ill patients remains 26 as of last week, the number of respirators across the country has risen from 16 to 17, and no one has died in the past week.

6,429 people died in the epidemic in Israel.

Only one of them has been added in the last three weeks.

In the last day, 295 patients were diagnosed - a slight decrease compared to yesterday. Out of 63,067 tests, the positive rate is 0.5%. The test data and their results are not final and may change in subsequent updates from the Ministry of Health.

According to the Ministry of Health, so far 5,615,722 Israelis have been vaccinated in the first dose against the corona virus, including 5,172,987 who also received the second dose.

The information center of the emerging knowledge and intelligence estimated that Pfizer vaccines are very effective (96%) in preventing serious illness variant delta ( "Enter India"), but made it clear that there is a significant gap between the immune defense effectively receiving two doses and only one received.

More IN Center data, infection coefficient R stands at 1.54.

Yesterday, for the first time since April, the number of verified people crossed the 300 per day threshold.

The renewed outbreak began two weeks ago, when verifications were discovered in the education system, in schools in Binyamina and in Modi'in, but has since spread to other localities.

Since then, the traffic light index of the two cities has improved.

Binyamina is today defined as orange, while Modi'in-Maccabim-Reut is yellow.

There are three red localities in Israel - Kfar Saba, Kochav Yair and the Scout settlement in Samaria.

The Ministry of Health estimates that at the current rate of spread, 1,000 verified patients a day will be diagnosed in Israel within ten days.

This is because the Delta variant, better known as the "Indian strain", is significantly more contagious than its predecessors.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Naftali Bennett welcomed the start of the construction of an expanded testing complex at Ben Gurion Airport "in order to shorten queues and allow for rapid tests," as he put it.
