The Centre for Health Protection said today (2nd) that a cleaner working in a quarantine hotel was diagnosed as a local case of unknown origin and was found to be carrying the L452R variant virus.
Zhang Zhujun, director of the Department of Infectious Diseases of the Center for Health Protection of the Department of Health, said that the L452R variant detected by the cleaner may be infected with the Delta variant virus.
The investigation found that the domestic helper with the L452R variant virus had stayed in the hotel, and the cleaner who was infected this time cleaned the room after the patient left the hotel.
The cleaner has been asymptomatic, and it was not until June 30 that the sample was initially positive during a regular test conducted by the hotel staff.
The Centre for Health Protection revealed that the patient had played mahjong with friends twice, and had accompanied his children in tutoring.
The "Yau Ma Tei Bridal Tea House Hotel" is a quarantine hotel. One of the cleaners diagnosed it as a local case of unknown origin and was found to be carrying the L452R variant virus.

Zhang Zhujun, director of the Infectious Disease Division of the Center for Health Protection of the Department of Health, said that the patient was a 41-year-old woman (case number 11937) who lived with three family members in the Aberdeen Centre.
She has not traveled abroad recently and has been asymptomatic.
Cleaned the room of the confirmed person in the quarantine hotel
Zhang Zhujun said that the patient worked in several places, but mainly served as a part-time cleaner at the designated quarantine hotel "Yau Ma Tei Bridal Tea House Hotel". The last day of work was July 1.
The investigation found that the hotel also had a confirmed case in the last two months, the case number is 11920, it was a foreign domestic helper from Indonesia to Hong Kong.
The domestic helper also carried the L452R variant virus strain. She stayed in one of the rooms of the hotel from June 20 to 27, and was finally sent to the hospital on the 27th. After that, the room was unoccupied until the contractor on the 29th. Disinfected at the scene. The cleaner (Case No. 11937) entered the house for cleaning the next day.
Zhang Zhujun said that the cleaner cleaned several rooms on the morning of June 30, and finally cleaned the room involved.
After finishing work and changing clothes, he immediately went to the mobile sampling station on Yata Street, Yau Ma Tei, and found positive for the virus.
In addition, the cleaner was also part-time cleaning at Guanlan Heen, Ap Lei Chau, No. 2 12A South Bay Road, Repulse Bay, and the last working days were June 27 and June 29, respectively.

Zhang Zhujun also pointed out that on June 27th and 30th, the infected cleaner had played sparrows with friends at the Kongfu Court, Aberdeen Center, and the related friends were required to undergo quarantine.
In addition, during June 26, she also accompanied the children to Haifeng Huaxuan on Aberdeen Avenue for tuition. The teachers and parents involved were required to be quarantined.
Zhang also pointed out that the children of the female patient were studying at Piliros Girls’ High School and King’s College respectively, and the two schools need to be closed for disinfection.
Her husband worked in the office of the Jockey Club Rehabilitation Center of the Tung Wah Group of Hospitals. His last work day was June 30. Her husband had received the first dose of Fubitai vaccine on June 25.

Two negative tests after admission
However, Zhang Zhujun said that after the cleaner was admitted to the hospital, both tests were negative, and the antibody test was also negative. Therefore, the government expert consultant and Professor Yuan Guoyong of the Department of Microbiology of Hong Kong University and related colleagues will visit the hotel for investigation.
In addition, there have been 160 confirmed cases in Hong Kong so far with the L452R variant virus, 59 of which involve the Delta variant virus.
