So far, a good ten local teams have been pedaling for climate protection.

It's all for a good cause.

Langenbach

- Five cyclists started the

Langenbach city

cycling on Sunday at 4 p.m.

Even if that represented a comparatively manageable scenario, those involved were nonetheless in good spirits.

Because over ten teams with a total of 60 participants have already registered, as Mayor Susanne Hoyer explained at the meeting point in front of the town hall.

According to Hoyer, the groups have been pedaling together for a good cause for three weeks now.

The Langenbach kindergarten association is the beneficiary.

Anyone who wants to can ride along

And that's how it came about: Verena Juranowitsch, Green Councilor and chief organizer of city cycling in Langenbach, and her colleagues have been able to win over four well-known local companies to pay a fixed amount per kilometer driven. The target is 15,000 kilometers. That is more than what was achieved last year, but it is feasible, as Juranowitsch thinks. “So far we have improved every year,” she said on FT request. The big goal is to bring together 1500 to 2000 euros at the end and donate it to the kindergarten association.

“Everything goes into one pot,” Hoyer made clear at the symbolic prelude to city cycling. All the daycare centers in town benefited from this - an excellent idea, as the town hall chief thought. In this context, Hoyer explicitly emphasized the commitment of Juranowitsch. "As always, she organized it well," said Hoyer. Eva Maria Bucksch (FW) was right at the forefront at the start. “I'm driving for the local council,” she clarified. She liked the fact that everything should be for a good cause from the start. “Basically, everyone is pursuing the same goal,” judged Bucksch. Regardless of whether it is an already existing team or individual participants who, according to Juranowitsch, would be combined in an "Open Team Langenbach": All you need to do is register at www.stadtradeln.de/langenbach - and you can start.

There is no such thing as a “city cyclist” this year

The topic at the start of the campaign was also the district relay trip, which had stopped just under an hour earlier in the village.

The Mayor of The Hague, Anton Geier, handed over the baton here, reported Hoyer.

"Some of us were there too," she said.

The town hall chief also counts an after-work tour to be one of the highlights of this year's city cycling, which is to take place on Thursday, July 8th, at 6 p.m.

The meeting point is the town hall at 5.30 p.m.

There will be no so-called “city cyclist” in Langenbach this year.

To do this, you have to pass the car key for three weeks and not even let someone drive you, Hoyer pointed out.

She had already thought about it, but then realized that she would have had to cancel too many appointments.
