The Canadian authorities announced that the massive forest fires that have swept several areas in the western province of British Columbia three days ago have been out of control and caused a significant rise in temperatures in one of the province's villages.
The Associated Press quoted County Public Safety Secretary Mike Farnworth as saying: "The village of Lytton recorded a record high temperature of 49.6 degrees for the third day in a row due to bushfires and fires in the village, in addition to the destruction of most homes and buildings and residents fleeing their homes while A number of people are still missing.”
In turn, the British Columbia Fire Department said: "The flames are raging out of control and spread over an area of about 80 square kilometers, in addition to several other fires burning in the area."
