The complex on Untere Bahnhofstrasse is still a major construction site.

In spring 2022, however, the hospice and women's shelter are due to start operating there - in a building that is unique in Germering.

Germering -

hospice, women's refuge and employee apartments come under one roof.

But they will be clearly separated from each other.

"There will be no contact between people in the individual areas," explained Christian Ganslmeier, the chairman of the Germeringer Social Foundation, on a tour of the construction site on Untere Bahnhofstrasse.

This becomes clear, among other things, in a cost-intensive detail: the building houses three elevators independently of each other.

"In view of the size of the building, this is unusual, but necessary," says Ganslmeier.

Dignity and tranquility in the hospice area are guaranteed as well as safety and protection in the women's refuge.

The strict separation also applies to access areas and stairwells.

Hospice area

It will be open and bright - with a lot of space.

The corridors are wide.

“Wide enough for the beds,” explains Ganslmeier.

This also applies to the access area to the rooms.

But the beds won't quite fit on the balconies.

But according to Ganslmeier, a possibility will be created so that the beds can at least halfway outside.

In this way at least a reference to the outside world can be created.

Relatives should also be able to be present at night.

The exact design, including other details, will be taken over by the nursing management, who has been active since July 1st.

A total of twelve rooms will be set up, of which only ten are currently funded by the health insurance company.

“That makes planning more flexible.

In addition, the demand is high, ”says Ganslmeier.

Women's refuge

When it goes into operation, there will be nine places available for women, plus 16 for children.

A pure place to sleep is also created for older adolescents who no longer necessarily want to stay overnight with their mother.

Particular emphasis was placed on community during construction and planning.

The rooms, the locking technology of which corresponds to that of hotels, will not have a proper cooking area.

Food should be prepared in a common room.

Women and children will also have their own courtyard area.

An underground car park driveway in the neighborhood shields this area from the surroundings.

Employee apartments

The third floor of the new building is intended exclusively for staff - also carefully separated from the other areas.

There will be no balconies here for cost reasons.

The construction site

"It's already very tight," says Ganslmeier.

For example, it has been difficult to erect a crane.

Corona and the associated requirements would not have caused any problems.

“We deliberately avoided using containers for the staff,” explains Ganslmeier.

Clearances would have been difficult to keep there.

Meetings were held on a small scale and directly on the construction site.

And what Ganslmeier is just as pleased to note: "Nothing has gotten away yet."

Cost and schedule

Around nine million are planned for the pure construction.

Ganslmeier is convinced that it will be able to adhere to this framework.

This is because Herbert Stark is not only the founder of the social foundation, but also a building contractor.

Ganslmeier: “He knows which companies work reliably.” Therefore, there are few difficulties with the procurement of materials.

What is just as important for Ganslmeier: The good cooperation with the city and its building management.

The chairman tells of Munich architects who were surprised that in Germering, for example, they did not cause any problems if the building line was exceeded a little.

The facility is scheduled to go into operation in the second quarter of 2022.

Then the hospice association and the social foundation will also have a business space.

And a meeting room can be used for 60 people.
