A 16-year-old has been suffering from pain because of her braces for years.

Besides, your teeth are not getting any better.

An expert suspects incorrect orthodontic treatment.

Taufkirchen

- toothache is bitter.

Ten years of almost uninterrupted pain in the jaw: That has to do with the substance.

Not being able to chew properly due to a displaced jaw and a number of surgical interventions - that must be hell.

A 16-year-old girl from Taufkirchen had to go through this hell.

Wrong treatment with the braces?

Schoolgirl suffers to this day - "Everything that can go wrong went wrong"

Actually, the then six-year-old only got normal fixed braces.

Actually.

Because to this day the student suffers from the consequences of "wrong treatment", as she says.

“I have a battlefield in the upper right corner of my jaw.

Everything that can go wrong went wrong. ”An expert commissioned by the MDK (medical service of the health insurance companies in Bavaria) suspects a treatment error.

This report speaks of a "violation of medical due diligence and orthodontic standards". Furthermore, the report that is available to the editors says: "The long-term therapy stress and the still existing tooth and jaw misalignments would have almost certainly been avoidable with situation-appropriate treatment and the entire orthodontic treatment that became necessary would have been omitted."

“A gap between my front teeth was the reason why I needed braces ten years ago,” reports Lena, who doesn't want to read her real name in the newspaper.

Fixed braces are the solution, for a maximum of two years, the orthodontist told her at the time.

But Lena's canine caused problems, he just couldn't get out.

This is called tooth retention in dental jargon.

This occurs when a tooth remains trapped in the jaw and does not erupt even though it is in the right place.

Girl gets braces: Suddenly she is said to need a surgeon and a transplant - "My parents and I were totally shocked"

Again and again Lena went to the specialist to check up, countless x-rays were taken.

“The orthodontist always said: Everything is good,” says the young woman from Taufkirchen.

But then suddenly it was said that Lena needed a plastic surgeon and a transplant.

At horrendous costs that the health insurer would not have covered.

“My parents and I were totally shocked,” says the 16-year-old.

A dentist in Taufkirchen has now been called to help, who also spoke of a bad, complicated case and referred Lena to an orthodontist in Dorfen, with whom the girl is now being treated.

In the meantime, the canine - after several attempts - could finally be removed.

"It's slowly getting better," says Lena, "but ten years, that's just the horror."

Wrong treatment with braces?

Girl is teased by classmates

Her parents are not primarily concerned with claiming damages, says Lena.

“I'm still in terrible pain, can't chew on my right side,” she says.

And her mother adds: "That's why my daughter is so emaciated."

Because her chin pushed forward, Lena was called a "witch" by her classmates.

Meanwhile, the student stands over it: “I knew it would get better at some point.”
