How do young adults from the Erding district think about the current corona policy?

Sebastian Kollmannsberger from Eicherloh gained knowledge about this as part of a research project.

Eicherloh - Understanding and trust of the under 30-year-olds in the pandemic measures has decreased significantly since the previous year.

The 22-year-old Sebastian Kollmannsberger from Eicherloh found out about this as part of a bachelor's thesis.

He makes the Erdinger results available to our newspaper.

Kollmannsberger has been working in corporate purchasing at Flughafen München GmbH (FMG) since his apprenticeship in office management.

The 22-year-old has been studying business management at the Triagon Academy since last year.

The topic of his survey in the market research and image analysis module was quickly determined by Kollmannsberger due to current events and the upcoming elections.

According to his own statements, he is very interested in politics, his mom Martina is already on the Finsingen local council.

Sebastian Kollmannsberger: "The topic really moves people"

The 22-year-old is not yet active and not a member of a party, but can imagine it in the future.

At FMG, however, he is already involved as chairman of the youth and trainee representatives.

The sample of his online survey ultimately comprised 245 people.

The student has received a lot of encouragement for this.

“The topic really moves people,” he says.

146 of the respondents came from the district of Erding, the majority of them (54 percent) were between 18 and 24 years old.

Almost 59 percent of the Erdinger respondents have followed political events more intensively since Corona.

The popularity of the governing parties increased among young adults at the beginning of the pandemic.

60.2 percent rated the trust as very high and high.

At the moment the values are very different.

In the current situation, 66.4 percent have low and very low confidence.

Kollmannsberger attributes this dissatisfaction among the respondents to the survey time in April, i.e. the sixth lockdown month, among other things.

Many participants justified the loss of trust accordingly.

Criticisms of the participants: From "permanent lockdown without a plan" to "non-targeted bans"

The freely formulated points of criticism were, among other things, the vaccination strategy, measures that were changed too often, "arbitrary decisions" or the "permanent lockdown without a plan".

The survey participants also criticized “tactical games” of politics, promises not kept, the mask scandal of the Union, violations of fundamental rights or “bans that are not effective”.

When asked whether another government alliance would do better through the pandemic, 44.5 percent answered with maybe.

40.4 percent cannot imagine that.

71.2 percent of young adults are in favor of uniform nationwide corona measures.

66.4 percent did not understand at all that the German gastronomy and hotel industry was closed, but trips to Mallorca were allowed again.

The clear majority of those surveyed also stated that their relationship of trust with the government parties is being impaired by the economic effects of the pandemic and the endangered existence of private individuals and companies.

Required program items for the 2021 election: From digitization to care

Kollmannsberger was surprised that 60.8 percent of Erdingen's voters voted for the Union or the SPD in the 2017 federal election.

52 participants want the CDU / CSU to remain in government in the next period.

35 respondents tend towards Bündnis 90 / Die Grünen and 32 people towards the FDP.

Kollmannsberger says that the Greens would be even better received by the survey participants from Munich than in the Erdinger region.

Required program items for the 2021 election are digitization, economic support, care, pensions, real estate or the climate and the environment.

The Bachelor student is happy with the choice of his subject.

But not everything comes as a surprise to him.

The 22-year-old expected, among other things, the decline in confidence in the second lockdown.

“I feel confirmed in the way I assess my environment,” says Kollmannsberger.

He is reassured that the majority of young voters from the Erding district “come from the political center and are so interested in politics”.
