Julian Assange will be 50 years old today, the third birthday of the Wikileaks founder in London's maximum security prison Belmarsh.
Before that, he spent almost seven years in the embassy asylum.
London - On the 50th birthday of the jailed Wikileaks founder Julian Assange, his fiancée and other supporters held a protest picnic opposite the London Parliament.
Fashion designer Vivienne Westwood, who has long been campaigning for Assange's release, smeared cake on her face in protest, as can be seen in photos from the PA news agency on Saturday.
The group called for the release of the 50-year-old on banners and posters.
Although the U.S. extradition request was denied by a London court in January citing his mental health, Assange remains in custody.
Washington appealed.
It is still unclear whether the application will be granted.
It is already the third birthday that the native Australian spends in London's maximum security prison Belmarsh.
Moris and Assange are even planning a prison wedding right now.
The US judiciary accuses Assange of stealing and publishing secret material from US military operations in Iraq and Afghanistan together with whistleblower Chelsea Manning.
The allegation is that he put the lives of US informants at risk.
His supporters, however, see him as an investigative journalist who has brought war crimes to light.
In the United States, he faces up to 175 years in prison if convicted.
Moris is now betting that the new US administration under Joe Biden will drop the charges against her partner.
