This is how to make a video with Tini 3:22

(CNN Spanish) -

At the end of April, Tini Stoessel presented her first single of the year, "Miénteme", along with her compatriot María Becerra.

In two months, the song has accumulated more than 100 million views on YouTube and has climbed positions in the Spotify charts, to place itself within the Global Top 50 of the Swedish platform.

We recently talked with the singer about this song, feminism in reggaeton and what is it about cumbia that is being so fused with other genres.

Why "Lie to me" as the first single of 2021?

Have you made a decision based on a hunch?

So it was that Tini decided that "Lie to me" would be her first single.

«I had been in Los Angeles writing many songs and I was quarantining recently arrived in Buenos Aires and I was listening to the songs at home.

Suddenly it was like "Lie to me", I mean the next song is "Lie to me."

So I called dad, I said: 'Do you feel the same too?

Yes we agree!

I literally didn't think about it, so don't talk to anyone.

It was how I feel María here, I feel that it would be a very good idea, being two Argentines also representing that this is a cumbia with a reggaeton fusion, "said Tini in an interview with Zona Pop CNN.

This is not the first time that María Becerra and Tini have been together on an issue.

They had already collaborated for the remix of "High", a song by Becerra that he performs with Tini and Lola Indigo.

Is there room for a reggaeton with a feminist nuance?

It is not a secret that there are reggaeton lyrics that can be very explicit, describing highly sexual scenarios where the man generally says everything he wants to do with a woman.

But, can this genre be made with a feminist vision?

«C

I think it is good to generate it from respect, which I think is also what we are asking for, "says Tini.

One of the factors in the sensitization of women in reggaeton songs also has to do with the representation of women, not only in front of the microphone, but in the technical and composition teams.

«

But if at some point there can be so many women, because there are still so many missing in the industry, working, doing and showing that it is possible.

Unite with each other and empower ourselves even more.

Be there for each other.

And that this place begins to be generated, not only for the singing artists, but also within the studio, for the musicians or for the producers, for female engineers ”, says Tini.

«

There is so much talent that that place is beginning to be given and that this can now be discussed, to generate awareness, I think that is what is beginning to happen.

This change has not yet been made or is really done, it is missing a lot, but at least there is a kind of awareness that perhaps a long time ago and there was not for a long time », adds the singer.

What does cumbia have that unites an entire region?

From Mexico to Argentina, cumbia is a genre that is heard from family gatherings to on the street.

And lately it is being fused with other urban genres, such as reggaeton.

That is the case with "Lie to me."

What is it about cumbia that makes the whole region 'fall in love'?

«Music connects with something directly energetic in the human body that generates emotion, sadness, joy, nostalgia, happiness.

I think that these types of songs, such as cumbia, reggaeton, and salsa… that they generate you like that fire inside and that automatically makes you dance, automatically smile », says Tini.

«

Those songs that it is easy to learn for you, that it is easy for my grandfather, for my grandmother, for my aunt, for the mother and for the little girl to learn.

There is something I think is generic and it becomes so popular with all people that it does not matter where you are from, where you come from or what religion you have.

There is something energetic that this type of music generates », adds the singer.
