The controversy was not lacking at the start of the quarterfinals of the Copa América and was present in the duel between Paraguay and Peru.
The referee Esteban Ostojich expelled Gustavo Gómez in a highly debatable ruling and the captain of the team led by Eduardo Berizzo waited for him in the tunnel to reprimand him: "Come if you are a man!"
The action occurred in the final moments of the first half.
Gómez, former Lanús and author of Paraguay's 1-0, had spoken to the referee throughout the first half and was cautioned. In an exit from the bottom, he put his arm on the chest of Gianluca Lapadula, author of two of the goals of the selected one directed by Ricardo Gareca.
The tip, which exaggerated, fell sprawled.

Ostojich waited for both of them to get up and, although it was not clear what he had charged
(it was the Peruvian's foul down and not the other way around)
, he showed Gomez the second warning.
The former defender of Lanús lost his temper and went to rebuke him, while his teammates tried to stop him.
But the stoy did not end there.
A few moments later, when the initial part was over, Gómez was waiting for the Uruguayan referee, who did everything possible to delay his departure.
There, disconcerted, the Paraguayan wanted to follow her
.
Berizzo had to intervene, who interceded to have his player taken away, who is
now exposed to a harsh report from Ostojich and a subsequent sanction.
Lapadula is missing, Gómez tries to get rid of him, but Ostojich says it is for a second yellow and expels the captain of Paraguay.
