Greens want access to files - but: secret things must be protected

The parliamentary group had made a corresponding application with the right to inspect files for individual municipal councils.

But nothing came of it.

Grünwald - Mayor Jan Neusiedl pointed out to the Münchner Merkur that a high level of personnel expenditure would have to be made for such a permit.

“There doesn't just have to be someone sitting next to it.” If sensitive data is involved, it shouldn't be disclosed, but must remain secret.

Quite apart from that, there is a legitimate requirement that the local council be informed when a local council wants to inspect files.

This is currently the case.

“I have been mayor for almost 20 years now, and I only saw files like this a few times.” At the meeting, the application was rejected: the local council refrains from changing the rules of procedure.

Waiting time is very long

Ingrid Reinhart-Maier (Greens) thinks that's a shame. In any case, the municipal councils only get access to files on topics that are currently on the agenda. They only serve as a good preparation for the meeting dates. She sees the problem with the municipal council granting access to files that the waiting time is very long before the plazet takes place. With a bit of bad luck, it could be three weeks before she got the decision in her hands. To make things go faster, she would have welcomed it if only the mayor had to be involved. The procedure would be accelerated and the benefit would be to make work easier. The inspection of files does not happen often, but from time to time. And in these cases, the elected officials must now continue to contact the municipal council. MARC OLIVER WRITE
