Beating seriously.

The New Zealand rugby team defeated Tonga, Argentina's potential opponent in the 2023 World Cup in France, 102-0 (first half 43-0), scoring 16 tries, in a test match played at Mount Auckland Smart Stadium.

In just 20 minutes of play, the All Blacks already had six tries against Tonga, which will play a tie against Samoa to define the representative Oceania 1 that will qualify to integrate Group D of the 2023 World Cup together with England, Argentina (which this Saturday will play Romania), Japan and a team from America.

New Zealand's 16 tries

were the work of Will Jordan (5), Brad Weber (3), Dalton Papalii (2), Damian McKenzie, Luke Jacobson, Richie Mo'unga, Rieko Ioane, Ptrick Tuipulotu and George Bridge, with seven conversions from Mo'unga and four from Beauden Barret.

Tonga could not do anything in any aspect of the game, did not pass half the court under pressure from the opponent and lost again 102-0 like 21 years ago, equaling that sad record and filling it with doubts for the tie.

The All Blacks' maximum victory is still 145-17 against Japan in the 1995 World Cup. For Tonga, that 0-102 in 2000 had been the worst score.

Until this Saturday, which equaled it ...

Indeed, Samoa, Tonga's opponent in this qualifying phase, also lost at Mount Stadium to All Blacks Maori by 38-21, in the preliminary match.

The Maori points were made with two penalty tries, Jonah Lowe (2), Ash Dixon and Sean Wainui, with conversions from Otere Blacks and Josh Ioane.

For Samoa, Neari Fomai, Tomasi Aloisio and Kakolo Tuiloma scored tries, with two conversions from Esekia Iona and one from Henry Taefu.
