The death toll in the Miami disaster rose to 22 last night (Saturday), with four more bodies found among the rubble of the collapsed apartment building.

Among the last to be found was a firefighter's daughter, and she is the third death among children in the disaster.

At the same time, the authorities ordered the evacuation of another residential building in the area, after it was found that the safety conditions in it were poor.

Miami Mayor Francis Suarez told the local press that the father of the girl who was killed "was present at the disaster site at the time, although he did not participate in the excavation amid the rubble."

The slain father and his brother, also a firefighter, have remained at the scene since last week.

About 200 staff members saluted while his daughter's body was removed and taken away.

"It's hard for us every time we rescue a dead person from the rubble," said Alan Kominski, Miami-Dade County Fire Chief.

"Yesterday was even harder, when we took out the body of our friend's daughter. As firefighters, we do what we have to do. But it still takes a toll on us."

The order to evacuate the building in the city of North Miami Beach, which is located about eight miles from the demolition site in Surfside, was given more urgently.

This is due to the progress of a hurricane to the area, which is expected to hit Florida as early as this coming Monday, and significantly increase the level of risk to the structure in which the defects were found.

"It's definitely not an easy decision," said city official Arthur Suri, "it's exactly the right thing to do at times like this. It's not clear what will happen when the storm gets here."

The risk will increase in the face of a storm approaching Florida.

Florida Gov. Ron Desentis wrote on his Twitter account that more than 400 reservists from the states of Indiana, New Jersey, his loved ones and Virginia, came to Surfside to help with the search for the missing and clearing the rubble.

Investigators have yet to determine what caused the sudden collapse of the 40-year-old building, which appears to be one of the deadliest building collapse disasters in U.S. history.

An engineering report on the building, prepared as early as 2018, found significant structural deficiencies in it - and these are now at the center of inquiries that will be examined by the court.
