A cardinal, Angelo Becciu, former number three of the Holy See from 2011 to 2018, will be tried on July 27 by the Vatican justice in a trial involving nine other defendants.
They are said to be involved in a financial scandal linked to the purchase of a luxury building in London, with funds guaranteed by the Vatican.
The Holy See, fooled by an Italian businessman on the real value of this property, first invested more than a hundred million dollars in 2014 to acquire part of the property.
