Jorge Altamira, the
historical leader
of the Argentine left,
will be a candidate again
after 6 years in the next legislative elections, in the midst of the debate on the unity of all the forces to compete in the Primaries.
The Tendency of the Partido Obrero, a force that he
founded after the breakdown of the PO
, appointed
Marcelo Ramal
in the City and
Altamira
in the province of Buenos Aires
as pre-candidates and heads of lists
, together with a call for a PASO from the entire left.
"Our proposal is an initiative for
the electorate to focus its attention
on a single list of the left," said the leader in a statement.
Nicolás del Caño, from PTS, won the internship against Altamira in 2015.
In the run-up to the closing of the lists, the debate of "a great STEP" runs through the Frente de Izquierda Unidad, where the
PTS
,
the Socialist Left
and the
MST
raise this possibility, against the position of the official PO to go with "unified lists."
"The PASO should serve to warn workers about this
historical
impasse
of the current social regime, and
an opportunity for each party to explain its own platform,
" added Altamira.
Altamira's extensive career, with several candidacies under his belt, led him to compete in the FIT internship in 2015, when he was defeated by Nicolás del Caño in that Primary.
Four years later, in the middle of the electoral debate heading for the 2019 presidential elections, Altamira was expelled from the PO and began another path.
After his departure, together with Ramal, a former Buenos Aires legislator, they
founded the Tendency of the PO
with which they will seek to participate in the next elections with the Political Worker seal.
To do this, they must obtain
legal status
from the federal electoral judge María Servini de Cubría.
So far they have
achieved the objective
of electoral representation in Tucumán, Salta, Santa Fe and Santiago del Estero where they will present their own lists.
Hot Debate
The proposal of a great STEP by all the left forces is in full debate among the FIT-U parties (PO, PTS, IS, MST) and cuts through the rest.
The Frente de Izquierda Unity
puts into play two seats of
national
deputies
of the Province of Buenos Aires, for which Del Caño and Romina del Plá were elected.
In addition, it renews three representatives of the Legislature of the City of Buenos Aires, and one place in the Buenos Aires Legislature by the jurisdiction of La Plata.
Del Caño's force made public his proposal of
"unity of the entire left"
and even launched a petition to gather signatures and join wills in pursuit of an agreement to "
use the mechanism of the PASO
to form unitary lists in the general elections of November".
In the same vein, the other forces that make up the FIT-U were expressed from the MST and IS.
Days ago,
Manuela Castañeir
a, from the Nuevo MAS, invited Del Caño to hold a
"public debate before the closing of the alliances"
, where he would also take his statement of unity.
Gabriel Solano
, of the official PO, rejects this proposal and points out the need to go to the elections with
"unified lists"
, with the aim of reinforcing "the unitary intervention not only in the electoral campaign but also as a reference and political alternative to the struggles that they are opening course in the face of the health and social catastrophe that we are experiencing ".
Miriam Bregman.
In the middle of this discussion, the names of
Miriam Bregman
and Solano sound to head for the City, while in the Province the idea is for
Del Caño
and
Romina del Plá to
return to the front of the lists.
The force of
Luis Zamora
, Self-determination and Freedom, decided to stand outside this discussion and has already announced that they will compete at the polls with their own list and candidates.
