In third place on the starting grid was the Mexican Sergio "Checo" Pérez and further back were the steering wheels of the Mercedes team: the multiple British champion Lewis Hamilton -fourth- and the Finnish Valtteri Bottas -fifth-.

From sixth to tenth place were ordered: Frenchman Pierre Gasly and Japanese Yuki Tsunoda, both from AlphaTauri, German Sebastian Vettel (Aston Martin), British George Russell (Williams) and Canadian Lance Stroll (Aston Martin).
