At a time when the developed countries, which represent 16% of the world population, are deconfining themselves, progressing towards immunity thanks to vaccination and experiencing a sharp recovery, the countries of the South are struck by a new epidemic wave and accumulate economic crisis and humanitarian.

Southern countries are suffering the full brunt of the spread of the Delta variant, 60% more contagious than the Alpha strain.
The epidemic is on the rise in Asia, particularly in Indonesia and Malaysia, Latin America and Africa, reinforced by the low vaccination rate and by the winter in the southern hemisphere.
It remains very underestimated for lack of tests, especially in Africa, where infection is officially limited to 3% of the population, but where epidemiological surveys carried out in megalopolises show a rate of contamination.
