The managing director of Tölzer Stadtwerke, Walter Huber, is aiming for the Bundestag.

Among other things, he is in the company of the lateral thinker Karl Hilz.

Bad Tölz

- The managing director of Tölzer Stadtwerke, Walter Huber, has political ambitions.

In the north of Munich, the 59-year-old recently appeared at an “election conference” - a small open-air rally in front of a rather sparse audience - and declared his support for the lawyer Helmut Krause's idea of having as many direct candidates as possible “independent of the established parties” to bring the Bundestag.

Huber himself would also be available as such a candidate, as he confirmed when asked by the Tölzer Kurier.

The event has several references to the lateral thinker movement

Huber's own speech dealt with the topic of secure energy supply and was extremely factual.

The event as a whole, however, showed clear references to the lateral thinker movement.

In response to a question from the Tölzer Kurier, Huber explains that he “of course does not belong to a lateral thinker group in the Bundestag, as the organizers say they are striving for, and that they will not, of course,”.

From a video available on the Internet that shows Huber's appearance, a link leads directly to the website of Helmut Krause, the initiator and moderator of the event.

There Krause repeatedly refers to the term “lateral thinking”.

He was in charge of a page that has meanwhile been taken offline under the title “lateral thinking forum”.

In Rottenburg am Neckar, he registered a demonstration against the Corona measures in November 2020.

Objective: "Lateral thinkers group in the German Bundestag"

On the website, Krause formulates a “common goal of the lateral thinker movement in Germany”: “As many as possible of the corrupt and mendacious current members of the Bundestag will become representatives of the German people, who rightly enjoy our personal and political trust. "As a basic assumption, Krause formulates the thesis:" The constitutional order is in danger or was eliminated last year by the Federal Government and the Bundestag. "

On Krause's website it says: “We'll crack the system at its predetermined breaking point.” The lawyer also publishes a “script” that outlines the way to his goal.

At the end of this there is a “lateral thinker group in the German Bundestag”.

Next speaker: Karl Hilz, observed by the Office for the Protection of the Constitution

Walter Huber opened his lecture with the words: "I support the idea of the direct candidates, I think that's a really great idea."

Another reference from Huber's public appearance to the lateral thinker movement: Karl Hilz spoke there directly after the Tölzer Stadtwerke boss.

The retired police officer, who also appeared at a Corona demo in Bad Tölz, is one of the most famous faces of the lateral thinker movement and is observed by the Office for the Protection of the Constitution.

In general, he speaks of the fact that “this state is being run in a totalitarian way”.

He calls democratically elected federal and state governments “illegitimate”.

In Munich, according to the announcement of the event, Hilz was supposed to speak on the subject of "Are there currently the prerequisites for exercising the right of resistance within the meaning of Art. 20 Para.

Walter Huber relies on the organizer's “democratic attitude”

Krause expresses himself on his website under the heading "Resistance to civil disobedience" in a text that begins with the words "Hello, dear Karl". In it, Krause writes: “What you are calling for - 'peacefully and without weapons' - and what I am calling for is civil disobedience, which a resistance movement (for example our citizens' alliance for a better Bundestag) is happy to carry, initiate and support can be. Examples of civil disobedience: parking illegally, paying no GEZ fees, wearing no masks, peeing publicly on election posters of the major coalition parties, initiating shitstorms on social media against members of the government and their lackeys on the 'media front' and in the judiciary, 'car corsos' 'Register for roundabouts etc. are likely to be measures of civil disobedience. "

When asked by the Tölzer Kurier about the lawyer's quotes, Walter Huber explains in writing: “Mr. Krause is a friend of mine.

I trust his democratic attitude.

Individual statements picked out of his speeches may seem awkward, as with any of us. ”Huber adds:“ You will not find a statement from me that I stand behind every single statement by the organizer, it does not exist and will not it doesn't exist. "

"I can't comment on statements by Karl Hilz," says Huber

Whether Krause actually called for people to urinate on election posters "I will personally check," says Huber. “That would be a no-go for me. I am definitely not calling for civil disobedience. Precisely because our constitutional state and our constitution are the greatest good for me. ”Two days after the Tölzer Kurier's written request, the corresponding text passage on the Internet was revised. There was no longer any question of “urinating”, “Shitstorms” had become “campaigns in social media”, and the “lackeys” were also deleted. The following day the text had completely disappeared from Krause's website.

Commenting on his participation in the event with Karl Hilz, Huber explains: “I don't know the Mr. Hilz you quoted personally, so I can't comment on his statements.

As long as nothing criminal is said, however, I am of the opinion that everyone can express their personal opinion publicly, regardless of whether others like it.

It's called democracy. "

Stadtwerke boss Huber gave a speech on energy supply

The fact that he - like Hilz - makes himself available as a possible representative of the people is "certainly not democratically reprehensible," emphasizes Huber.

“I would like all citizens of our country to take the elections seriously and somehow actively participate in them.

This also includes reading, getting information and thinking. ”The term“ lateral thinking ”should not be confused with a politically motivated parliamentary group.

In terms of content, Huber's speech did not show any references to the lateral thinker movement.

"As a long-time employee I can very well contribute to the energy supply," he explains, "I even consider that to be my duty."

Comment from editor Andreas Steppan: "A serious mistake"

Walter Huber a “lateral thinker”?

Yes, in 2019 I would have agreed to this without hesitation.

Because at that time the word meant nothing more than something that is very desirable in any democracy: someone who is able to draw his own conclusions and sometimes swim against the current.

Today, in 2021, the term stands for something completely different.

It was abused and devalued by a diffuse movement in which conspiracy theorists and enemies of democracy are unfortunately also romping about in the course of the protest against the corona policy.

In this sense - I dare to say that even after his appearance at a "lateral thinker" -related event - I do not rate Walter Huber as a "lateral thinker".

Nevertheless, I see his participation in the Munich “election conference” as a serious mistake.

As managing director of the Stadtwerke, he is a prominent representative of the city of Bad Tölz and - it is a municipal company - the state.

As such, it would have been his responsibility to carefully examine the context in which he publicly positions himself politically and who or what he indirectly supports and legitimizes with it. Especially if he doesn't just appear as a private person, but lets himself be introduced as the managing director of the Stadtwerke and the company's Internet address is displayed.

Overall, I get the impression that Huber - perhaps out of loyalty to a personal friend, perhaps relatively inexperienced - allowed himself to be pulled in front of someone else's cart. Huber's own intentions seem harmless, there is nothing wrong with his speech. But the video is now being sold on the Internet with the sensational text "Managing Director of Tölzer Stadtwerke uncovers energy scandal". And the whispering of the lawyer Krause of "civil disobedience" and the "cracking of the system at its predetermined breaking point" does not go well with Walter Huber, as I have known him for years. Not to mention Karl Hilz's gossip about "resistance" against an alleged Merkel dictatorship.

One should not automatically hold Walter Huber jointly liable for the statements of others.

Anyone who wants to stand for election has to put up with questions about the environment in which he appears.

The answers to this could have been clearer.
