The Chief Secretary for Administration, Li Jiachao, met with Li Huiqiong, Chairman of the House Committee of the Legislative Council, and Ma Fengguo, Vice Chairman of the Legislative Council’s House Committee for the first time today (5th).
During the meeting, Li Jiachao said that he would allocate more time to contact different members of the Legislative Council to exchange views on the legislative proposals and funding proposals that the government will submit to the Legislative Council for deliberation before the end of the current term of the Legislative Council.
Li Jiachao said that he would lead relevant policy bureaus to fully cooperate with the legislative council during the remaining term of office. He hopes to work closely with members of the Legislative Council to jointly promote the relationship between the executive and the legislature. The SAR government will also strive to maintain effective communication and close contact with the Legislative Council. Cooperate with the Legislative Council to monitor the work of the government, jointly safeguard the overall interests of Hong Kong, and serve the citizens of Hong Kong.
He also stated that he will fully support the Chief Executive's administration, fully and accurately implement "One Country, Two Systems" in accordance with the Basic Law, and implement the concept of "Patriots governing Hong Kong".
The former Secretary for Home Affairs Zhang Jianzong said earlier that the government plans to submit the remaining bills planned to be passed during the remaining term of the current Legislative Council to the Legislative Council for deliberation on or before the meeting of the Legislative Council on July 21. China can submit it to the Legislative Council as late as August.
