Colombia

Last week, Colombia received the donation of 2.5 million Johnson & Johnson vaccines against covid-19 from the United States.

As of Sunday, the country had applied 19.1 million doses in total.

Among these, 7.2 million are second doses, and more than 223,000 are single doses.

However, Colombia continues to register high rates of new cases and deaths from covid-19.

According to data from the Ministry of Health, more than 26,000 new cases and 582 deaths were reported on Sunday.

Argentina

The City of Buenos Aires will begin to study the combination of different vaccines against covid-19 available in the country.

People over 21 who have received the first dose of the Russian Sputnik V vaccine will be able to register, local Health Minister Fernán Quirós said on Friday.

Mexico

Mexico City detected the first six cases of the delta variant of the new coronavirus, the Ministry of Health of the Mexican capital reported on Friday.

The director of the Pan American Health Organization, Carissa F. Etienne, said that Mexico has managed to detect more than 15 variants in the country.

"The delta variant was recently detected in three states: Quintana Roo, Baja California and Mexico City," Etienne said.

The Federal Supreme Court of Brazil on Friday authorized the Attorney General's Office to investigate whether the president, Jair Bolsonaro, committed the crime of embezzlement in the case of the purchase of the Covaxin vaccine.

When the investigation, which could take up to 90 days, is complete, the Attorney General's Office will decide whether there is sufficient evidence to charge Bolsonaro.

Ecuador

In Ecuador, 126 people from the Waorani population living in the Tagaeri-Taromenane Intangible Zone, in the Amazon, were vaccinated last week, according to the Human Rights Secretariat.

Professionals from the secretariat and the Ministry of Health sailed for more than 12 hours to reach the vaccination points that were arranged for the inhabitants of the communities of Ñoneno, Guemeneweno, Omakaweno, Boanamo, Bameno, Cononaco Chico and Omere.
