The Russian Federal Security Service announced that it had thwarted a series of terrorist attacks in the cities of Moscow, Astrakhan and the Republic of Kabardino-Balkaria, which were planned by ISIS terrorists, noting that six terrorists were eliminated and two others were arrested.
“A series of terrorist attacks planned in the summer of 2021 by members of cells affiliated with the terrorist organization ISIS were thwarted, and as a result of the measures taken, six militants were neutralized and two were arrested,” the agency quoted the commission as saying in a statement today.
The statement indicated that automatic weapons, ammunition, a hand grenade and extremist books were found during the search of the terrorists' residences.
Yesterday, the National Anti-Terrorism Committee of Russia announced the elimination of five terrorists in the capital of the Kabardino-Balkaria Republic in the North Caucasus, noting that the terrorist group was planning to carry out terrorist crimes in the region.
The Russian security also arrested a terrorist from the extremist organization last Thursday in the capital, Moscow, who planned to detonate a bomb in a crowded place.
