The celebration of International Children's Day kicks off from the Tartous cultural stage with a heritage exhibition and a play for children with disabilities

Traditional handicrafts and artistic, lyrical and theatrical performances were presented at the Arab Cultural Center in Tartous, in celebration of the 19th International Children's Day, which was held by the Child Culture Directorate, amid a large official and popular presence.

The exhibition included the products of a number of children, after which the artistic performances began with a documentary film about the workshops of the Directorate of Culture on various activities concerned with developing the talents and abilities of children in various artistic and literary aspects, followed by the presentation of lyrical and popular arts and theatrical performances with the participation of students from Dar Al-Aman School for the sons and daughters of martyrs and children Persons with disabilities in cooperation with the Syrian Trust for Development.

In a statement to reporters after the opening, Minister of Culture Dr. Lubana Mushawah stressed the importance of caring for children, because they are the seed of life in which we must sow joy to give us hope for future generations to build the country, noting what the art exhibition included from talented children who were trained to feel the importance of what they produce and that the work that is based on Science and knowledge is our way to build the nation.

In his turn, Kamal Badran, Director of Culture in the governorate, spoke in his speech about the role of the ministry through its directorates and centers spread in the governorates in spreading literary, artistic and intellectual knowledge through training workshops for children and various cultural activities.

A number of life skills coaches considered that every child has a talent that must be discovered and nurtured to feel the importance of his early participation and presence in the community, regardless of that talent, as mentioned by both coaches Amal Al-Ali and Nathmiya Ismail.

In turn, the participating children found this celebration an opportunity to present their artistic production, as Moufida Kelzy, who participated in the handicrafts of embroidery and the recycling of environmental waste, saw that Maya Salloum stated that her hobby is the art of paper folding, or what is known as “origami,” which she mastered with the support of her mother, a work that acquires people. Patience and precision.

The celebration also included launching colorful balloons inscribed with phrases of peace and love from and to Syria at the Festival Square on the city's seaside corniche.

It is noteworthy that the central celebration of the International Children's Day will be held in Tartous governorate, accompanied by celebrations of the occasion in the cultural directorates of the governorates from today until the 11th of July.
