Schongau / Altenstadt - The renovation of the section of the B17 between the Peiting-West and Schongau-West junctions will then be completed.
With the following closures, all traffic on the B17 no longer has to be diverted through Lechstadt and the market town.
According to building authority employee Alois Stapf, the construction company is on schedule.
According to him, work will be carried out on the transition structures for the Lechtal bridge until July 10th.
As reported, the caps at the beginning and end of the bridge will be replaced.
The old constructions caused loud knocks when cars and trucks drove over them.
If the wind was unfavorable, the noise could still be heard in Schongau-West.
In addition, banquets, lane markings and crash barriers have to be made and delineator posts set on the entire section, reports Stapf.
The Altenstadt junction will be the next construction site
Construction work on the B17 is also scheduled to begin in July, something that is eagerly awaited in Schongau and Altenstadt.
The Altenstadt junction will have additional entrances and exits on both sides of the main road.
The left turn will be history after the work is finished.

The area of the new branch is currently being used by the construction company as an interim storage facility for asphalt milled material, verge material and the like.

As reported, the junction had become a hotspot for accidents in recent years. Left turns repeatedly caused sometimes severe collisions. Injured and high property damage was to be complained about. Fortunately, the number of accidents has decreased since last year. The reason: The authorities had already reacted to the dangers in 2019. Stop signs were set up and stop lines drawn. Obstacles and diversions will not be entirely absent in the upcoming construction phases.
The renovation section between Schongau-West and Altenstadt follows the current one.
According to Stapf, three weeks are planned for this work.
Traffic to the south will then be diverted via Altenstadt.
To the north it rolls again through Schongau.
The State Building Authority wants to provide separate information about the further construction process, which will continue into autumn.
