(CNN Spanish) -

The covid-19 vaccine is the central theme of this question and answer episode of our podcast.

Dr. Elmer Huerta clarifies several doubts, including how to know if the vaccine we receive is original, if a couple can kiss after receiving the antigen and if patients who overcome covid-19 and are vaccinated have greater immunity.

You can listen to this episode on Spotify or your favorite podcast platform or read the transcript below.

Hello, I am Dr. Elmer Huerta and this is your daily dose of information about the new coronavirus.

Information that we hope will be useful to take care of your health and that of your family.

Questions about the covid-19 vaccine

@drhuerta. My boyfriend and I do not live together but we are both already vaccinated with tiredness, can we kiss in a normal way?

- maria cristina lopez (@ 240773Lopez) July 4, 2021

Hello Maria.

Yes of course.

By being both protected, you can make your life normal.

@drhuerta, if I get Covid19 and I recovered, after what time should I get vaccinated?

- Yonelsi Sánchez Rojas (@ yonelsi07) July 4, 2021

Hello, Yonelsi.

According to the United States CDC, you can get vaccinated immediately after overcoming the disease, although it is recommended that you wait until day 90, because the natural immunity of the disease lasts at least that long.

@drhuerta doc, is it normal for the first dose of pfizer to have side effects but not for the second dose?

What if they just gave me a placebo?

😭😭

- Archibaldo (@vvootiz) July 3, 2021

Hello, Archibaldo.

Due to the biological diversity of humans, side reactions to vaccines - like any drug - are different from person to person.

Some do not react to any dose, others to both, some more to the first, others to the second.

That has nothing to do with the strength of the defense system.

@drhuerta Hello Dr., nice to greet you and I wish you are well, a question I am from Mexico City, I received the first dose of Sputnik V, more than 37 days have passed and they still do not give a date for the second dose, what can happen?

They told us that on the 20th they would call us and nothing thanks!

- GMCR (@GAMACARI) July 3, 2021

I'm so sorry for the delay of your second dose, GMC.

Unfortunately there are no studies yet to show whether a second dose of another vaccine could help.

In Argentina, they will begin a study to see if it is possible to complete the second dose with the Sinopharm vaccine.

I suggest you speak with your personal physician.

Can a person who has overcome the covid be reinfected with the delta variant, is it known that he generated antibodies and has already been vaccinated with a dose of either pfizer or astrazeneca?

- Dariella Valdez (@Dariella_Valdez) July 3, 2021

Hi Dariella.

If that's possible.

In the United States and Israel, fully vaccinated people have been seen to be infected with the delta variant.

Fortunately, this is very rare, having seen that unvaccinated people are the main victims.

@drhuerta June 1st 1st dose astra zeneca June 27th 1st dose Pfizer July 18th can I get 2nd dose Pfizer?

I can all 3 doses

- Jaime Alejandro Garc (@ ingjaimegarcia2) July 3, 2021

Hi Jamie.

That is no longer necessary, with those two doses of vaccines you are completely protected.

@drhuerta greetings from Ecuador.

Dear Dr. I have 60 ug / DL of lead in my blood.

I can get vaccinated to prevent death from Covid.

Thanks for your reply.

- Luis Haro (@ LuisHaro5) July 3, 2021

Hi Luis.

Of course, you should protect yourself with the vaccine and then seek a medical opinion to treat the high level of lead in your blood.

@drhuerta I was vaccinated with the Pfizer 9 days ago, today I was diagnosed with positive covid (I have had symptoms since yesterday).

Is it possible to pass it lighter?

Or I have not had time for the vaccine to develop antibodies

- Diana (@dianillaz) July 2, 2021

Good question, Diana.

The disease that occurs after the first dose of vaccine is the same as the disease that would have occurred without the vaccine.

That is, approximately 80% have mild or asymptomatic symptoms, 15% have more severe disease, and 5% may be complicated.

Make sure to seek medical help.

@drhuerta Hello, how can I know if the vaccine (AstraZeneca) with which I was vaccinated is really original?

- Victor (@ Victor41855411) July 2, 2021

Very good question, Victor.

Unfortunately, there is no way to know if the vaccine they are giving you is original or not.

It is a question of trust in the health system of your country.

That is why you should never accept being vaccinated outside of the health system.

Questions about medicines and vaccines

@drhuerta Hello Dr. HUERTA.

Could you please get me out of a doubt? .... if a person is vaccinated against Covid-19, and has an ear infection, can they take any medicine to treat it? ... thank you

- Natalia Muñoz (@ nataliam_08) July 4, 2021

Hello Natalia.

Yes of course.

There is no problem with the medical treatments that a person may require, before or after the vaccine.

@drhuerta good morning doctor, my consultation is the following three days ago I was vaccinated with the first dose of astrazeneca, can I continue my treatment with glyceryl trinitrate cream? Does it affect the effectiveness of the vaccine?

- Diego (@ Diego96089013) July 3, 2021

Hi Diego.

In general, you can continue with any type of treatment, however, please ask the doctor who prescribed that cream.

Dr people who suffer #blood pressure, #cholesterol and #diabetes each different and are medicated, when receiving the 1 #dose of #Pfizer they should take their pills or stop x days

- Anticorrup Collective (@colectivo_SJM) July 3, 2021

Collectively, there is no problem with the medical treatments that a person may require, before or after the vaccine.

Please continue taking your meds.

@drhuerta doctor tremendous work with podcasts.

My question: after placing the first dose of sinovac, after 20 days I contracted the Covid 19 virus. They have recommended that I receive the second dose 30 days after the test was negative.

Is this viable?

- Esteban Gonzalez (@ Estebancho1984) July 2, 2021

Hello Esteban.

According to the United States CDC, you can get vaccinated immediately after overcoming the disease, although it is recommended that you wait until day 90, since the natural immunity of the disease lasts at least that long.

@drhuerta A question does the spunik v vaccine help the delta variant?

- Luisg.lopez (@ Luisglopez17) July 2, 2021

Hi Luis.

This week Denis Logunov, deputy director of Russia's Gamaleya Institute, said that the Sputnik V vaccine is about 90% effective against the Delta variant.

Remember that the vaccine was almost 92% effective against the original strain of this coronavirus.

We will have to wait for the studies published in scientific journals.

Dr. Huerta.

A question.

My 1st dose was with Aztrazeneca and my 2nd with Pfizer.

But to have a valid document in my country, I need to be vaccinated with a second dose of the same vaccine.

Will I have a problem if I get another dose of Pfizer?

- Victor Hugo Garcia Ulloa (@ H95419555Victor) July 1, 2021

Hello Victor.

From an immunization point of view, you are already fully protected.

I understand the administrative problem, but there are no studies that allow me to give you advice.

Please consult your personal physician.

I'm sorry I can't help you.

@drhuerta greetings from Quito, is it true that those of us who overcome the covid and get vaccinated will have a longer immunity time?

- Citizen of the planet.

(@Daviddiemann) July 1, 2021

Hello, Citizen.

A recent study has shown that people who were infected with this coronavirus and then vaccinated had a significant increase in their antibody levels.

In that same study, the researchers said that it's possible that immunity could last a long time.

One more query please.

This is because there are studies that indicate that putting the second dose of Pfizer in a longer time than the one indicated by the manufacturer generates higher antibodies, is that true?

Thanks for everything

- Vane mori (@ Van06_5) July 1, 2021

Hello vane.

That is not true.

What has been studied is that the protection provided by the first dose is capable of protecting the person for a sufficient time so that the second dose is postponed.

Obviously, the second dose increases the production of antibodies with respect to the first.

Other questions about the coronavirus

@drhuerta Dr good day, what do you recommend regarding children's games in the parks ???

In Peru they restricted their use but now they are open?

Without risky for the little ones?

- His!

(@ susanahd56) July 3, 2021

Hi, Su.

Contagion outdoors and without people around is almost impossible.

Regarding surfaces, make sure they are clean and that your child washes his hands.

That will be important in the prevention, not only of covid-19, but of many other infections.

@drhuerta @CNNEE if my vaccinated wife is passing antibodies to my 10-month-old baby through breastfeeding, can my 4-year-old take that expressed milk and receive antibodies against COVID-19?

- Luis Angulo (@luigitb) July 3, 2021

It's an excellent question, Luis, but I don't think doing that will help your 4-year-old.

The amount of antibodies is very low and is not absorbed from the digestive system to give you general protection.

@drhuerta Dr. many health blessings, there is a medical treatment to combat the virus and its symptoms and prevent the patient from going to the intensive control units, I had heard that Israel has this type of medicine, is it true?

thank you very much for your great work

- Franklin Garcia (@FrankRaulGarcia) July 1, 2021

Hi Franklin.

Yes of course.

Those treatments are monoclonal antibodies and, remember, they were administered to former United States President Donald Trump.

It is recommended that these monoclonal antibodies be administered to patients who are at risk of complications, to prevent the disease from worsening.
