CDU: Ziemiak accuses Green members of spreading conspiracy theories
CDU General Secretary Paul Ziemiak has accused members of the Greens and some of their supporters of spreading conspiracy theories and called for a factual election campaign. It was said that the Union wanted young people to contract the coronavirus so that they could not vote on September 26th. We clearly reject this type of election campaign, ”said Ziemiak on Monday in Berlin after deliberations between the presidium and the federal executive committee of the CDU. Ziemiak did not say whose statement he was referring to.
Rather, he said generally "that supporters of the Greens or Greens themselves spread conspiracy theories," and cited the above example.
Ziemiak accused the Greens and the SPD at the same time, they wanted "tax increases, burdens and more bureaucracy, quotas and bans in the economy, in crafts, in industry".
He emphasized: "That would be poison for the upswing." The economic recovery after the corona pandemic is "not a sure-fire success".
Ziemiak also published his allegations against the Greens on Twitter.
We stand for a fair election campaign and we expect the same from our competitors.
Some Greens have fueled a climate of sharpness in the last few days, sometimes even spreading conspiracy theories against the Union.
