During the night from Sunday to Monday, a gendarme shot dead a criminal in Bossey (Haute-Savoie), an act for which he is now in police custody.
The prosecutor of the Republic of Thonon, Bruno Badré, detailed the file in

o, confirming that "
a gendarmerie crew, required by an agent of a surveillance company signaling the presence of a suspicious vehicle and individuals likely to commit motorcycle thefts, intervened during the night in the town of Bossey.
As the vehicle sought to escape, a soldier used his weapon and fatally injured the driver of the vehicle.

The firefighters intervened on the scene, before declaring the death.
Two investigations were opened: a first, for "
attempted homicide on a person holding public authority, criminal association, refusal to comply and thefts in meetings
", was entrusted to the Savoy research section.
One of the occupants of the vehicle, who had managed to escape, was arrested shortly after, and taken into police custody.
We do not yet know the exact circumstances of the arrest, or whether the criminals themselves fired.

Regarding the gendarme who fired, a separate investigation was opened on the count of "
violence resulting in death without intention to kill
". The latter aims to specify the circumstances of the use of the weapon, and was entrusted to the General Inspectorate of the National Gendarmerie. The author of the neutralization shot was taken into custody in this context. The criminal division of the Annecy public prosecutor's office is continuing the investigations.
