In appreciation of a poetic journey that exceeded half a century that enriched contemporary Arab poetry with a unique and rich creativity, the Arab Writers Union held a symposium honoring the late poet Fayez Khaddour, who faithfully presented to his country and culture his innovative visions and a summary of his long experience to achieve through it an advanced position in the world of contemporary poetic modernity.

The symposium, hosted by the Al-Assad National Library in Damascus, included sentimental words and critical readings in the literature of the late, in addition to the screening of a short film that reviewed his literary and poetic beginnings, his publications, his collections, and his relations with his poet friends and writers.

At the beginning of the symposium, speeches were delivered that dealt with the merits of the late and his impact on the contemporary Arab poetic movement. The head of the Arab Writers Union, Dr. Muhammad Al-Hourani, pointed to the great void left by Khaddour on the Syrian and Arab cultural scene, who was writing brilliant poems in a high language to be an icon for six decades or more in Syrian culture will be immortalized by history and preserved by generations.

In turn, Dr. Safwan Salman, Head of the Political Bureau of the Syrian Social Nationalist Party, reviewed the creative means in which the late Khaddour wrote in addition to his literary and cultural work to advance society by presenting enlightening ideas and creative visions.

In his speech, the poet Hussein Abdel Karim reviewed the relationship of the late with his poet and literary friends, such as Muhammad Al-Maghout and Hanna Mina, in addition to the literary activities that brought them together in forums and cultural activities.

Yana Khaddour, the daughter of the late, referred to the social ethics that her father lived through and his upscale and civilized dealings, defending his convictions and dedicating his loyalty to his friends and country.

During the critical symposium, Dr. Thaer Zain Al-Din touched on the development of the rhythmic structure in the poetry of Fayez Khaddour, who throughout his life carried the banner of the “Tableh” poem, but sought to be liberated from the single activation and to preserve its music.

The critic Dr. Saad El-Din Kulaib explained in his axis that the late made in his poetry attempts to experiment in the form of the Arabic poem, whether through poetic rhythms or through manipulating the language or the semantics of the singular and presenting it with new suggestions and a creative form in terms of correspondence with literary genres in addition to that his poem overlapped with theatrical, story and biography The epic takes advantage of the ancient mythical construction to enhance his poem and experience it.

Poet Dr. Nizar Brik Heneidy considered that Khaddour's poem of experience stemmed from his own life experiences, especially in his poem Adad, which is one of the most important books he wrote in addition to his ability to invest what he sees in public life and turn it into a poetic experience.

As for the critic, Dr. Jamal Abu Samra, he explained that the late went beyond the limits of poetic stereotyping and saw that the poetic experience and the inner movement of the poem determine its shape and external structure, and it prompts the poet to steer behind her chariot, and this is what is indicated by the diversity of construction mechanisms that came with his poems.

While Dr. Batool Draw provided a reading of the late poet's dialogues through his critical views on literature, poetry, culture and life, in addition to exposure to content, language, prose, criticism and the opinions of the interlocutors in his literature.
