The corona pandemic has given the motorhome scene another boost.

The Alpen-Plus partners are now also reacting to this.

You submitted an application for a motorhome parking space at the Taubensteinbahn.

Spitzingsee - RV tourists, for a long time they were more tolerated than welcome in Schliersee.

The reputation of not leaving anything in the place except garbage - namely money, of course - preceded them.

But those times are over.

Says mayor Franz Schnitzenbaumer (CSU), who now had the application for the construction of a mobile home parking space at the Taubenbahn valley station on the table with his building committee.

Campers are now very welcome

"Anyone who looks at the cars knows: someone like that must have something good," says Schnitzenbaumer.

Even renting mobile homes is not cheap.

And that the holidaymakers huddle up in their rolling living rooms is a myth that has long since been disproved.

Mountain railways, leisure facilities such as pools, but above all the gastronomy, benefit from mobile home owners.

Not to be forgotten, says Schnitzenbaumer: "Every overnight stay relieves the streets." As is well known, the corona pandemic has given the motorhome an enormous boost.

The rush should be channeled

In some places, however, mobile homes also cause problems.

The Waitzinger Wiese in Miesbach is only allowed for vehicles under 3.5 tons, in Bayrischzell the stay is limited in time because migrant workers camped on the Seeberg car park all summer with children and cones (we reported).

The more the rush is organized and channeled, the better.

Always inquiries from Alpenbahnen Spitzingsee

Peter Lorenz from Alpenbahnen Spitzingsee has also recognized this need.

Again and again, he reports, RV owners have asked whether they can spend the night in one of the parking spaces around the Taubenbahn valley station.

The Alpenbahnen made this possible in individual cases almost on the short official route.

With the increased demand, however, it became clear that a reasonable offer was needed.

Construction committee gives its okay

The Alpenbahnen have now submitted their plans to the building committee.

He looked at the matter on site and unanimously gave his okay.

The motorhome parking spaces are to be created north of the Taubensteinbahn valley station - i.e. not on the Spinnradl side - and there on the upper of the two partial areas.

Lorenz speaks of around 15 places.

He will still decide on the exact structure.

"We are now waiting for the decision."

The community wants fully-fledged parking spaces

As Schnitzenbaumer explains, the community already imagines something wholesome.

Means: The campers should have a power connection, fresh water and the possibility to dispose of waste water.

Will they set up, says Lorenz, who has already looked at the facility on Oedberg in Ostin.

Depending on how big the effort is, Lorenz would like to get started as soon as possible.

It would then be the second motorhome parking space at Spitzingsee.

The existing one is only a few meters further south on the other side of the street, directly on the lake, but is not operated by the Alpine Railways.

With the mobile home to Schliersee?

A good idea at the moment.

Because both in and out are slow.

The more designated motorhome parking spaces, the less wild growth, according to the calculation of tourism professionals and municipalities.

Because if you just park your mobile phone - this is possible in many places for up to ten hours to be able to drive - you don't pay a tourist tax.

If you stay overnight on designated parking spaces, yes.

Proper rubbish and faecal disposal is also possible there.
