After a long wait and high losses due to the corona pandemic, the Nuremberg tourism industry is now hoping for a large influx in the summer.

Nuremberg - trade fair organizers have to wait until autumn, conferences have so far only been attended modestly.

Now the hospitality industry is hoping for tourists who are attracted by the “city happiness”, as reported by nordbayern.de.

Quarters by the sea, by lakes and in the mountains are almost completely booked out.

"People want to relax now, after the long lockdown, the longing for nature experiences is particularly great," says Nuremberg's tourism director Yvonne Coulin.

Cities are currently not the first choice when it comes to travel.

Nuremberg: discoveries in remote places

Nevertheless, the Congress and Tourism Center (CTZ) is doing everything it can to promote the new start with a cross-media campaign.

Punctually at the beginning of the holiday season, she wants to convey to tourists, for example, everything there is to experience in Nuremberg and the surrounding area.

The campaign runs under the title "Stadtglück-Momente".

Above all, the cultural and culinary offers as well as the attractive excursion possibilities, for example to Franconian Switzerland or the Franconian Lake District, should be focused.

On the website of the CTZ you can find, among other things, small videos on the hotel and catering trade, guided tours and conferences.

When it comes to advertising, the focus is particularly on the German-speaking countries and parts of the Netherlands.

The topics of safety, hygiene and the currently valid corona rules are particularly important.

A mobile information offer is intended to address guests on site: Employees use the “iBike” on Fridays and Saturdays in particular.

You can meet them at the flea market, Hallplatz, or below the castle, for example.

Thanks to the mobile equipment, you can make bookings with them on site.

Nuremberg: A billion loss

Nuremberg's tourism industry recorded dramatic losses last year due to massive restrictions.

Revenues plummeted by about 60 percent compared to 2019.

In total, the loss was around one billion euros.

This corresponds to about half of the total tourism turnover in 2019.
