Berlin / Frankfurt - Customers of several Sparda banks in Germany have to expect strike-related restrictions this week.

The Verdi union has called on the employees of four of the eleven cooperative institutes to go on a warning strike in order to increase the pressure on employers in the current collective bargaining round.

The strike is to begin on Tuesday (July 6th) at the Sparda banks in Hanover and Baden-Württemberg, actions are planned for Wednesday (7/7) at Sparda-Bank Hamburg and on Thursday (8/7) at Sparda-Bank Südwest based in Mainz.

Verdi announced on Monday that there would be strikes in the branches and in the home office: "Then the switches will stay closed and the laptops and smartphones switched off," said Verdi negotiator Kevin Voss.

“We have only lost time in the previous rounds of negotiations and received zero offers from employers.

At this point we see no other means than warning strikes to move the employers' side. "

The union is demanding 3.5 percent more money for the approximately 5600 employees nationwide, but at least 120 euros. Employees should be able to choose between more salary or more free time and should be protected from redundancies for operational reasons. The third round of negotiations is scheduled for July 14th in Frankfurt / Main. dpa
