Hussein Diab, Governor of Aleppo, stressed during the workshop the need to work to restore the ancient city of Aleppo, especially after it was affected by terrorist attacks during the years of the unjust war on Syria, noting that the Seif Al-Dawla School building dates back to the eighteenth century and is being rehabilitated today as it is an archaeological, heritage and historical symbol that bears witness to the greatness of the city. This city, adding that the work team concerned with the restoration of old Aleppo is making special and meticulous efforts to be a center of civilizational radiation despite the systematic destruction and sabotage it has been subjected to.
For his part, Dr. Eng. Yasser Dashawali from the team concerned with the restoration and rehabilitation of the old city of Aleppo pointed out to SANA reporter the importance of discussions with commercial activities within the workshop to present the techniques that are used, the priorities in restoring the straight street, the timetable and costs of restoration, pointing out that it is necessary to take the opinions of the civil society and owners Shops and dealers to work on restoration and rehabilitation.
For his part, Dr. Sakhr Alabi, Director of Aleppo Antiquities, confirmed that all efforts are being made to rehabilitate the city's main market to become a model for the restoration of all markets in old Aleppo.
In turn, Jean Magamez, director of the office of the Syrian Trust for Development in Aleppo, pointed out that this workshop is a continuation of the workshops that took place last week, stressing that today's workshop with economic activities is very important because traders are the main part and the main driver of the return of economic life to Aleppo markets, pointing out that the strategy of restoring the straight street And its interventions, which were worked on by the concerned working group, are based on pillars related to society from the economic, social and urban aspects, with the aim of reaching recommendations that enrich the mechanism of action.
Amer Hamwi, head of the Aleppo Chamber of Commerce, spoke in a statement to SANA reporter about the importance of this workshop, which is an initiative to revitalize Aleppo’s old markets and revitalize the economy, given that Aleppo is an economic capital and a magnet for merchants from countries around the world with its commercial originality and heritage, adding that in order to confront the economic war on Syria, it must be revitalized.
