The Senate has just, in its wisdom, adopted an amendment to the climate and resilience bill, which should put an end to a form of tyranny. Currently, municipalities are forced to accept wind turbines they do not want. The Courtial amendment, named after a senator LR from Oise supported by sixty-five of his colleagues, aims to give them the freedom to refuse, which they had been deprived of. Again, this is a very moderate solution. The new found freedom would only benefit the municipalities where the machines are installed, and not their neighbors which, given the increasing height of the wind turbines, can be affected just as much. Indeed, several projects 240 meters high, including the blade, are currently under study.The ambition of the wind industry seems to soon be to equal the Eiffel Tower with its 300 meters in height.
