Organizing the "Light City" in an attempt to plan a terrorist attack in Hong Kong, the police yesterday (5th) arrested 9 men and women, including middle school students and university management personnel.

The Baptist University responded to "Hong Kong 01" stating that the case is being investigated by the police and the Hong Kong Baptist University does not have any information to provide.

The organization "Light City" was accused of attempting to plan a terrorist attack in Hong Kong. The police yesterday (5th) arrested 9 men and women including middle school students, university management staff, and middle school staff.
This morning (6th) Li Guihua, Senior Superintendent of the National Security Division of the Police, explained the facts of the case that the arrested persons were suspected of manufacturing the home-made explosive TATP and planned to launch bomb attacks on the undersea tunnels, railways, courts and trash cans with the intention of causing casualties.
Li Guihua said that the organization has a precise division of labor, including a funder, a survey team, and a bomb-making team.
It is understood that the arrested university management and middle school faculty and staff provided funds for the middle school students to instigate terrorist attacks.
In addition, the police found that the organization recruited middle school students who planned to leave Hong Kong to commit crimes, and even tried to help them escape abroad after committing crimes.
The organization rented a hotel unit on Nathan Road in Tsim Sha Tsui for use as an explosives laboratory and storage of chemical raw materials.
During the operation, the police seized TATP manufacturing equipment, a small amount of explosives, chemical raw materials for making home-made bombs, as well as a large number of suspected attacks used in communication equipment, air guns, action plans, about 80,000 Hong Kong dollars and other evidence.
In addition, the police have frozen more than 600,000 yuan in assets.
