Prayer has tremendous power, even to raise the dead.
We see throughout Jewish history - the power of prayer that comes from the depths of the heart and intention.
The Admor Rabbi Josiah Pinto shlita, head of the patriarchs of the courts in Morocco, expanded in his lesson in Morocco on the virtue of prayer, and told about the desert generation, that for forty years, the children of Israel dug graves for themselves and died on Tisha B'Av, except in the last year. They died, and they discovered this on Tu B'Av.
Rabbi Pinto explains that the reason he did not die in the last year in the desert with Israel was that they prayed from the bottom of their hearts and intentionally, and by the power of prayer to prevent death
