Damascus-SANA
Argentine cinema is classified as one of the most developed genres of the seventh art in South America, as it produced its first films since the end of the 19th century and was one of the most award-winning Latin cinemas.
In order to familiarize the Syrian public with this advanced industry in the seventh art and its productions, the General Film Organization launched the Argentine Film Week at Dar al-Assad for Culture and Arts in Damascus, which includes the screening of three films.
Through this event, which is held in cooperation with the Argentine Embassy in Damascus, the Cinema Foundation seeks to show films of a deep humanitarian nature to show the common values of the two peoples in Syria and Argentina.
During the first day, the movie “Alissa and Fred” was shown, produced in 2005, directed by Marcos Carneval, starring Manuel Alexander and China Zorella, and it tells about a love affair that brought together an elderly man and woman with different temperaments, but this relationship did not last long because of the death of the woman due to her health problems, but the man remains loyal for her memory.
Due to the success of the film and its transparent humanitarian presentation, American cinema worked on making a copy of it with the same name in 2014.
Today, the event will show the movie “Waiting for the Funeral Cart”, and will conclude tomorrow with the screening of the movie “Juan Moreira”.
