The crew member of the Discovery Bay Ferry Pier fell into the sea and disappeared.
At about midnight today (6th), the authorities received a report from an employee of the Discovery Bay Ferry Terminal, stating that a 60-year-old colleague had suddenly disappeared while working at his job and was suspected of falling into the sea.
After receiving the report, the firefighter dispatched at least one fireboat and two diving rescue vessels to search the scene.
During this period, the fire frogman fell into the sea to dive for search and rescue, and finally found the male victim at about 2 am and rescued him immediately, but he was in a coma.
The ambulancemen took over for the first aid and rushed the victim to North Lantau Hospital, where he died after rescue.
It is reported that the 68-year-old man named Leung has worked as a crew member for the Discovery Bay Ferry Terminal Company for about 20 years. He underwent the Tong Bo Tsai operation a few months ago and suffered from long-term illness.
The police are investigating whether anyone suddenly fell ill and fainted and fell into the sea.
The police said that a report was received from a pier employee at Plaza Drive, Discovery Bay, Lantau Island at 0:37 am, stating that a 68-year-old male colleague surnamed Leung fell into the sea at the pier.
The firefighter rescued the victim, who was unconscious and sent to North Lantau Hospital for treatment, where he was later certified dead.
Police officers did not seize the suicide note at the scene.
The cause of death has yet to be determined after an autopsy.
The case was classified as "Death on hospital admission."
