At the end of two weeks of debates, Hubert Caouissin was sentenced to a prison sentence of 30 for the quadruple murder of the Troadec family, in February 2017. This fifty-year-old, former boiler-maker worker at the arsenal of Brest, was on trial for the murder of Brigitte and Pascal Troadec (49 years old) and their children Charlotte (18 years old) and Sébastien (21 years old) with doe kicks, at their home in Orvault, near Nantes, on the night of 16 to 17 February 2017.

The public prosecutor had requested life imprisonment on Tuesday pointing to the dangerousness of the accused.
“An ordinary man can override his humanity and cut up his family by marriage to cover up his crimes. This affair has something chilling, sordid, extraordinary, ”
thus summed up Tuesday in an indictment in two voices the lawyer general Charlotte Gazzera, before the assizes of Loire-Atlantique.
After killing the Troadec family, his in-laws, Hubert Caouissin had meticulously butchered the bodies, on his farm in Finistère, with a kitchen knife for three days and had thrown the muscles and viscera into brambles, in the hope that they are eaten by wild animals. He had also cremated the bones, skin and fat in his boiler.
