Israel signed an agreement with South Korea last night (Tuesday) to exchange vaccines against the corona virus.
This is against the background of the stock of vaccines in the country that are about to expire, as well as the spread of the Delta strain.
Under the terms of the agreement, and to the knowledge of Pfizer, Israel will deliver about 700,000 vaccine doses of the pharmaceutical giant to South Korea by the end of July, and in return will receive the same amount of vaccines during the months of September and October.
"This is a win-win deal," said Prime Minister Naftali Bennett, "together we will defeat the virus."
"The State of Israel welcomes the agreement and sees it as a mutual benefit, both for Israel and Korea," the Prime Minister's Office said in a statement.
The signing of the agreement was led by the Ministry of Health in cooperation with the Foreign Ministry, the National Security Staff and the Prime Minister's Office, and will take effect "after completing all the processes, including testing the vaccines after their arrival in South Korea."
In recent days, Bennett has held a series of talks with Pfizer CEO Albert Burla to enable the deal, as well as on ongoing vaccination policies and strategies to deal with the virus and its existing and future variants.

Bennett added in response to the agreement: "We continue to protect the health of Israeli citizens. The vaccines are effective and life-saving, that is a fact. South Korea will receive our existing stock of vaccines, and we will receive their future shipment. I would like to thank the CEO of Pfizer, Albert Burla, a warm Jew who loves the State of Israel, for the great assistance, as well as the Minister of Health and the people of the Ministry of Health, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the National Security Council who worked around the clock.
Health Minister Nitzan Horowitz thanked on his Twitter page the "Ministry of Health professionals" who led the deal.
"The Koreans will immediately receive hundreds of thousands of vaccines from us, and we will receive their future shipment from Pfizer and thus ensure a stockpile of vaccines for our citizens. Thank you to the Foreign Ministry and the National Security Council for the assistance and of course to the tireless prime minister.
That's a great collaboration. "
