"Horacio, I want you to fall in love, not for you to pay me for love
.
"
The phrase is often used by Emilio Monzó when he describes
Rodríguez Larreta's
political style
. The leader who leads
the demand for the political rosca
and led the Chamber of Deputies fighting day
Through
Mauricio Macri, he speaks of the Buenos Aires head of government with a
mixture of criticism and admiration.
Due to a certain absence of epic that he perceives in his power project and because of the capacity that he recognizes to advance overcoming each of the obstacles that he has. What is clear is that he does not underestimate it for a second.
The last days, and those to come, constitute
a leadership test
for Rodríguez Larreta.
When it seemed complicated by the electoral threat of Patricia Bullrich in the City, the head of government managed to get the president of the PRO to withdraw from any nomination until 2023. How did he do it?
What is known about the agreement is that Bullrich will have
a stellar role
in defining the candidates for Together for Change throughout the country.
And that it
will place several of its allies on the lists
of national deputies of the Capital, of the Province and in the two local legislatures.
The number one bullrichista of this time, the former Secretary of Security, Gerardo Milman, will have
a safe place
on the Buenos Aires ballot that will be made by the national legislator.
Although the two downplay it in public,
Rodríguez Larreta was benefited and Bullrich was harmed
by Mauricio Macri's trip to Europe.
The former minister negotiated alone and ended up favoring the presidential plans of the man who governs the City.
He made it clear that, if the circumstances arise, he will face him in the race to the Casa Rosada.
But he was muttering anger at the ex-president's departure from the scene, who in these hours
prioritizes the launch of his book
in Madrid.
And that, as the current FIFA manager, he
will be very attentive to the attractive definition of the European Championship.
Horacio Rodríeuez Larreta managed to get Patricia Bullrich to get off any application until 2023.
But it is known that happiness is not eternal. Macri will have to qualify soccer entertainment with
bad judicial news,
after the ruling that decreed the bankruptcy of Correo Argentino, the company that controlled his family's business group and that Néstor Kirchner nationalized in 2003. The former president
accused the now Treasury Attorney , the Kirchnerist Carlos Zannini,
of wanting to harass his children (present in the board of directors), and the solidarity tweets of Rodríguez Larreta, Elisa Carrió and María Eugenia Vidal will not be enough to alleviate it.
In Buenos Aires, far away from the heat of Madrid, Horacio began
another of his juggling moves
to accommodate the melons in the much rougher interior of the Buenos Aires territory.
He met with Mayor Jorge Macri,
in an attempt to make him desist from giving the fight to Diego Santilli in the Province. Because it is one thing to face the UCR, with Facundo Manes at the head. And a very different one would be
a fracture of the PRO
, which leaves the radicals facing the possibility of a victory that would end their presidential dream. They spoke in the dark on the mezzanine floor of Pizza Cero, the restaurant that Rodríguez Larreta alternates with the offices of Parque Patricios, and Vicente López's Macri
took an offer of spaces
in the lists of candidates that allows him to continue feeding the chance of contesting the governorship in 2023.
While negotiating with Jorge Macri, Larreta also maintains
simultaneous dialogues
with José Luis Espert and Ricardo López Murphy, to contain votes for the right, and with the mayor of San Isidro, Gustavo Posse, to open a flank in the structure of the UCR.
These are days of definitions that will be completed with the launch of the unit list in the City.
The idea is to show
a photo that represents the return of Vidal
to the Buenos Aires stage, but that also includes the ally Martín Lousteau, the lilitos de Carrió and leaders of minor parties with minimum percentages that later help
round a more attractive number
in the election .

Among the little Chinese dishes that Rodríguez Larreta tries to spin all at the same time, is
the concern about Vidal's situation.
The previous dispute with Bullrich and the tension over the leadership with Macri generated
a wave of unusual violence towards the former governor on social networks,
where the crack and the radicalization of the political debate is imposed by a landslide. The digital campaign teams say they have detected
more than ten thousand anonymous accounts
that install offensive hashtags towards María Eugenia, but they admit that this preaching ends up filtering towards many legitimate tweeters who do not share their strategy of the last year and a half.
Last weekend, the writer and former Macrista civil servant, Hernán Iglesias Illa, wrote an article in the digital magazine Seoul entitled
"Falcon heart, dove head",
in which he raises the need for Together for Change to have both slopes faced today to compete with more chances in legislative elections.
"Strategic firmness, tactical flexibility"
, asks as a recipe to block the threatening alternative of a
hegemonic Kirchnerism
in the near future.
Something of that spirit seems to animate Rodríguez Larreta's recent moves to
house pigeons and hawks
in the same cage.
But not all leaders of Together for Change are willing to facilitate the way.
He will have to
risk
going to a complicated primary election against radicals in the province of Buenos Aires to test whether his aspiration to be president in two years has solid foundations.
And, if he wins in September, Cristina, Máximo Kirchner and Sergio Massa await him in that same territory.
It's just
the beginning of a marathon
that has left too many competitors short of air for long distances.
