Major floods swept at least 40 villages in Indonesia's far western Aceh Jaya region today.
The Xinhua news agency quoted the Indonesian Agency for Disaster Reduction as saying that the floods caused by the continuous rain swept through at least 40 villages, noting that rescue teams are on alert and working to help the affected people and reduce the effects of the floods.
The Indonesia Meteorological Agency had earlier warned of the possibility of natural disasters, including floods, in a number of regions.
