The Mangfallsteg construction site is being closely followed.

So attentive that unusual work has now been observed.

Gmund - The Mangfallsteg construction site attracts attentive looks.

Passers-by noticed the following action on Monday: The freshly concreted foundation for the wooden bridge on the Kaltenbrunn side was torn down again by an excavator.

How can that be?

On request, Josef Harraßer from the building authority of the municipality, as the builder of the bridge, must actually grant the following:

“The foundation is 26 centimeters higher than planned.

So we decided that the construction company had to remove the foundation again. ”The alternative would have been to increase the path to the bridge as well, says Harraßer.

The access route on the Kaltenbrunner side will be higher than before, which is a requirement of the licensing authority.

Harraßer sends the good news after the mess: “It has no influence on the construction time.” That's right.

But not quite.

Because the next step in the work creates problems: the carpentry work.

New Mangfall footbridge: Timber bottleneck delays completion by two weeks

As Harraßer explains, the Bernöcker company from Gmund should have started the woodwork on the bridge on Monday, July 5th. “Unfortunately, the wood delivery is delayed by two weeks, so that the carpentry cannot start until July 19th.” But it could have been worse, says Harraßer, referring to the current rampant wood shortage on all construction sites around. Because of this issue, the Mangfall footbridge will not be ready at the end of July as planned, but only in mid-August. And even then, the construction of the paths will still take a few days.

Attentive observers noticed something else: a 400-tonne crane that was initially required has now been replaced by a smaller model.

"After the foundation work from Gmund, the construction company has just found that a smaller crane is sufficient," explains Harraßer.

At around 545,000 euros, the footbridge is the largest project in this year's budget.

A grant of 212,500 euros is expected.

By the way: Everything from the region is now also available in our new, regular Tegernsee newsletter.
