According to the police, officers of the Special Duty Squad of Sham Shui Po Police District launched an anti-drug operation code-named "THUNDERBOLT 21" at about 6 pm yesterday (5th), and raided No. 279 Lai Chi Kok Road, based on information and in-depth investigations. Two units and arrested 5 people.
During the operation, the officers seized about 31 grams of suspected cocaine, about 1.5 grams of suspected methamphetamine, about 4 grams of suspected heroin, 159 suspected sedative pills and some suspected drugs used in the unit.
The market value of the seized drugs was about 55,000 yuan.
Police officers arrested two 43-year-old local men, two 43-year-old local women and a 46-year-old foreign man on suspicion of "trafficking in drugs" and "possession of tools for drug use".
All arrested men and women are now being detained for investigation.
The police will continue to conduct intelligence-led anti-drug operations.
The police reiterated that drug trafficking is a serious crime. According to the Dangerous Drugs Ordinance, Chapter 134 of the Laws of Hong Kong, once convicted, the maximum penalty is a fine of HK$5 million and life imprisonment. The public should not try the law on their own.
