The first lady of Haiti, Martine Moïse, was injured in the attack in which President Jovenel Moïse was assassinated.
Haiti's ambassador to the United States, Bocchit Edmond, said arrangements are being made to transfer her to a hospital in Miami for treatment.
Edmond described his condition as stable but critical during a virtual briefing with journalists on Wednesday.
Martine Moïse was born on June 5, 1974 in Port-au-Prince, according to the biography in the Caribbean Community-Caricom Wives of Leaders of the Caribbean Action Network (SCLAN).
He studied Interpretation at the University of Quisqueya in the Haitian capital.
