Back from the forced break: The Geretsried mothers center has reopened to a limited extent.

Geretsried - “Finally” could be heard from all sides when the Mothers Center (MüZe) opened its gates for the first open July meeting.

If the weather cooperates, the summer picnic should take place every Monday and Wednesday between 3 and 5 p.m. in the garden of the facility on Adalbert-Stifter-Straße.

Everyone is welcome - regardless of whether they have already had contact with the MüZe or not.

“Today we have an outdoor game day and not an indoor game day”, MüZe employee Ilse Beigel tries to explain to her grandson. He would find the toys hidden in the mothers center much more interesting than the bobby car in the garden. The reason for the "outdoor matchday" is obvious: the corona pandemic and the associated restrictions are not over yet. “But we are happy that it is starting up again after such a long time,” says Beigel and pulls up the blinds. "Otherwise it looks like we're not there."

Not everyone comes to the front door to read the sign that everyone is outside in the garden. The first mothers arrive - with babies in their arms and toddlers by the hand. There is relief everywhere. A young mom looks around. “I hope that I will get to know other young mothers here,” says the 23-year-old and strokes her first-born daughter Sofia (14 months) on the face. Becoming a mom in pandemic times means no mother-child groups, no breastfeeding and crawling groups, and also no meeting for a coffee to exchange ideas. "That was simply missing," agrees Julia Salti. A year ago, the 26-year-old became a mother for the third time. The little one is also called Sofia. Mum is already known in the MüZe through her first two daughters, but if nothing is allowed to take place, that doesn't help either. "Easter, St. Nicholas celebration, lantern parade - that was all gone," confirms Ilse Beigel.

The now six children and their mothers go into the garden. Fears of contact are alien here. Lilia (2) tests the green slide, the two sofias crawl through the grass next to each other. The mothers have no fear of contact either. Regardless of their origin, each mom immediately starts talking to the other. “This is how it should be,” says Beigel happily.

But the question is: How should one reach “future mothers” and also helpers.

“We are missing the latter in particular,” regrets the long-time MüZe employee.

Until the lockdown, you were an indispensable support not only for the pre-kindergarten group “Sonnenkäfer”, but also at the coffee get-togethers.

"Many have looked for another job or have made other commitments," Beigel shows understanding.

“And the children have gotten older too.” In other words: Anyone who wants to help is welcome.
