Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova confirmed that the British authorities' plans to limit the work of Internet broadcasting services represent a systematic stifling and restriction of media freedoms.
In a comment published on Telegram today, Zakharova indicated that she is waiting for the United States and Western countries to respond correctly to the plans of the British media regulator, and said, "I am waiting for the explosion of angry, discontented voices in the United States, Germany, France, the Netherlands and of course the Baltic countries under the slogan "Britain is stifling freedom." .
And the British Minister of Digital Technologies, Culture, Media and Sports, Oliver Dowden, said that his country's government is working on preparing a new white paper on television and radio broadcasting, a special document that sets out how London will build its relations with media operators in the future.
Zakharova pointed out that the Public Media Regulatory Authority, which has controlled British television for many years, plans to expand its practices to include online broadcasting, saying that the justification given by British newspapers for this new intention "was in accordance with the best traditions of British royal propaganda ... with clear and meaningless arrogance."
